Meet our leadership

The Ouray Teacher Fund Board is comprised of former teachers at Ouray Schools, former coaches, and involved community members.

  • John Kissingford

    President

John taught high school English for 30 years, the last ten of them at Ouray School. Opportunities to continue his studies - especially fellowships at Bread Loaf School of English in Vermont and Oxford, at Florida Atlantic University, and at Bard College - allowed him to return to the classroom every year with renewed excitement, commitment, and competence.
  • Craig Kaminsky

    Treasurer

Craig is an application developer, a CrossFit coach, and a former officer on Ouray's volunteer fire department; he was for many years the Ouray High School girls basketball coach.
  • Di Rushing

    Secretary

Di taught high school English at Ouray School for a quick quarter of a century, and counseled innumerable "chirrens" in her capacity as Dean of Students. She took generations of fledgling readers and writers under her wings, "larnd 'em good," and then retired to write more books for them to read.
  • Phylis Fagrelius

    Director

Phylis retired from Ouray Middle School after decades of instilling in children a love of Shakespeare, social studies, and learning of all kinds.
  • Erin Latta

    Director

Erin is a baker, a quilter, a CrossFit sufferer, and a lover of the outdoors. She appreciates every teacher she has had. She believes in lifelong learning and is thrilled to support Ouray teachers. She and her family have been feeding the community for decades at Artisan Bakery.
  • Nancy Nixon

    Director

Nancy taught every possible subject (and a few impossible ones) during 42 years in education (31 of them at Ouray School), directed several million drama club productions, and ruled the school library with iron fists enclosed in velvet gloves. She never met a book she couldn't shelve or a student she couldn't love.
  • Hazel Price
